About Donna Bird — LCSW, CCH
Serving Clients in Saratoga Springs and throughout
New York’s Greater Albany Capital Region
General Background and Experience
As a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CCH), I possess a unique and varied background with a strong personal goal of helping individuals improve their lives and find satisfaction by means of personal counseling and coaching.
My training as a counselor and coach blends with my work experience as a business owner/entrepreneur — as well as my various life experiences — in such a way that I can offer my clients perspectives from multiple points of view.
This flexibility has been enhanced through previous work experiences as an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) coordinator and manager in the government sector for over 20 years. During that time I experienced a long stint as a single mother raising three children. In this way I learned how to successfully balance a career, my college education, and family life. Balance is what is important!
Degree and Professional Certifications
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. The ‘R’ designation in my LCSW-R license allows for third-party insurance reimbursement and is only awarded after a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has had a minimum of 6 years of postgraduate professional supervision and has met strict credentialing guidelines.
In addition I hold national certifications in:
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Interactive Imagery
- Wave Work II
- Thought Field Therapy (TFT)
- Wellness Coaching
I have also received additional training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) under the direction of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the originator of the technique. I have been a student of meditation since 1984 and began teaching stress reduction and meditation in the private and government sector in 1990. I am also a Reiki Level II practitioner.
